Unlimited Usage Policy

Unlimited access means you can stay connected to our system as long as you are in front of your computer actively using the connection. This use includes sending and receiving mail, downloading files, surfing the web and using Internet Relay Chat.

We expect that you will disconnect your modem from ours when you are not actively using the computer. If we find that your system is idle (not sending or receiving data) for fifteen minutes, our modems will automatically disconnect. Additionally, our modems will automatically disconnect after approximately eight hours of continuous connected time.

Using auto-dialers and programs that send small amounts of data to mimic the appearance of activity is strictly forbidden. If we discover you are using one of these programs, we reserve the right to terminate your account without warning.

These rules are here to ensure that paying customers can get connected to the Internet when they need to.

If you need a dedicated dialup connection, BendNet provides it as a separate service. Please contact BendNet at (541)385-3331 for more information.

What exactly does "unlimited access" mean?
You must be sitting in front of your computer and actively using the Internet.

Can I stay connected while my computer repeatedly checks for email?
No. You can not stay connected all day while your computer continuously checks for email or any other data retrieving usage like push technology or continuous stock quotes, chat or ICQ. You can not use any programs that simulate active usage.

How can I make Windows 95 automatically disconnect in case I forget to hang up?
Go into your "My Computer" icon, then go into your "Dial-up Networking" icon, then right click on the "BENDNET" icon and select "Properties". On the Properties screen, click on "Configure" then at the top of your screen click on "Connection" and you will see "Disconnect a call if idle for more then X minutes", set the time for 5, 10 or 15 minutes and that way if you forget to disconnect you will automatically be disconnected.

Unsolicited Email (Commercial or Otherwise)

BendNet will not tolerate any user sending even a single unsolicited email message to another customer of BendNet or to any user of any other online service. BendNet reserves the right to define "unsolicited email" on a case-by-case basis. Our definitions are not open to interpretation. BendNet will close accounts belonging to users who violate this policy without prior warning. In addition, the user will continue to be responsible for any outstanding balance on their account, even after termination of the account(s).

Hacking
Under no circumstances will we tolerate the use of BendNet's internet access services as a medium to hack into our system, or any other. If you are caught using our system for this purpose, we will permanently terminate your account(s) without warning, and if serious enough we reserve all rights to monitor and turn over to authorities any unauthorized or illegal activities.
